Diversion
This program has been set up by the Court to allow first time non-violent offenders who are unruly or delinquent an opportunity to correct their mistakes without a juvenile record.
The youth and their parent(s)/guardian will be required to meet with the Diversion Officer. During this meeting the youth’s case will be discussed, a contract will be drafted to include specific rules and requirements that the youth must follow. This may include (but is not limited to) a curfew, community service, home detention, restitution, and apology letters.
The goal of the Diversion Officer is to have the youth and parent(s)/guardian work together and help the youth realize their role in the community, to increase self-esteem and confidence to effect positive changes in the youth’s behavior.
