You may apply in person for a marriage license Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., except legal holidays. You can apply online any time, but in order to complete the online application process, both applicants must go together to the Court between the hours listed above, with any additional required materials mentioned in these instructions. We will require a current pictured I.D. and Birth Certificate.
At least one of the applicants must be a resident of Ottawa County and the marriage must be performed in the State of Ohio. If both applicants are from out of state but wish to be married in Ottawa County, they must obtain their license in Ottawa County.

Cost of the license is $50 (cash or credit/debit card only). Checks and are not accepted.
The License is issued on the same day as the date of application. Beginning on the issue date the license is good for 60 days after which it will expire and no longer be valid if the marriage ceremony has not taken place.
An ordained or licensed minister of any religious society or congregation within this state may perform a marriage within this state if, prior to the ceremony, that individual is also licensed by the State of Ohio to perform marriages. The license to perform marriages is obtained through the office of the Ohio Secretary of State.
